CARPET STAIN REMOVAL GUIDE
Carpet stain removal is simple if you act quickly to remove the carpet stain. If you wait too long your going to give the stain a chance to penetrate the carpet fibres and possibly becoming permanent.
We realise that accidents happen at the most inappropriate times so we have put together a emergency spot and stain removal guide to help you with treating stains as they happen.
The cleaning solutions we use here are for emergency stain removal only and calling a professional carpet cleaning company to treat your carpet stains is highly recommended.
Here we use just simple household items to help remove most stains. Pre test the cleaning solution in a inconspicuous area first.
• Soda Water.
• 1 half teaspoon of Laundry detergent detergent to 500 ml of luke warm water.
• White vinegar and water 50/50
• Bicarbonate soda.
• Salt.
Step 1.
Remove excess solids from stain area.
Step 2.
The carpet spot and stain solutions should be applied to a clean cloth or paper towel. Never apply cleaning solutions directly to stain areas.
Use a blotting action only as rubbing will cause pile distortion and will become unsightly even when entire stain is removed.
Work the cleaning solution from the outside of the stain towards the center.
You may have to repeat this step until no more colour transfer to cloth is achieved.
Step 3.
Thoroughly rinse out the stained area with either plain water or soda water. It is really important to rinse all of the cleaning solution out of the carpet as this will prevent wicking of the carpet as it dries.
Apply a thick cloth or a pile of paper towels to the damp area weighted under a heavy object(phone book) and leave overnight. This will allow any residues to wick into the paper towels or cloth as it dries thus taking it out of the carpet and into the cloth or paper towels.
